An “isotope” is any of several different forms of an element, each having different numbers of neutrons.

The illustration below shows the three isotopes of carbon.

Anything beyond that is problematic and highly doubtful. Jesus, the creator and eternal Son of God, who lived a sinless life, loves us so much that He died for our sins, taking the punishment that we deserve, was buried, and rose from the dead according to the Bible. Furthermore, the ratio is known to fluctuate significantly over relatively short periods of time (e.g. Unfortunately the ratio of carbon-12 to carbon-14 has yet to reach a state of equilibrium in our atmosphere; there is more carbon-14 in the air today than there was thousands of years ago.Unfortunately, we aren't able to reliably date artifacts beyond several thousand years.

Scientists have tried to extend confidence in the carbon dating method further back in time by calibrating the method using tree ring dating.Atoms are made up of much smaller particles called protons, neutrons, and electrons.Protons and neutrons make up the center (nucleus) of the atom, and electrons form shells around the nucleus. If you truly believe and trust this in your heart, receiving Jesus alone as your Savior, declaring, "Jesus is Lord," you will be saved from judgment and spend eternity with God in heaven.
